US man sentenced for possessing Marijuana
12 October, 2012

David Dekker, age 53, was sentenced to three years of probation and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Dekker was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 13, 2012, and pled guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance (Marijuana) on June 20.

The conviction arose from an incident on July 7 when Dekker sold .49 ounces (13.9 grams) for $200 to an intermediary. Subsequently, law enforcement officers searched Dekker's house and seized 23 items, including 1.43 ounces/40.5 grams of marijuana and a small marijuana grow found in a closet in the basement.

Dekker admitted that on six or seven occasions over the past five months, he purchased quarter-pound quantities of Marijuana for $1,200 per quarter-pound (680.39 grams total).

The investigation was conducted by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller.
