Saina pays tax for unpaid DC money

Hyderabad, Oct 11 (RDI): Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal has paid advance tax of Rs. 70 lakh in connection to a money that she was supposed to get from the Deccan Chronicle (DC) company as a pPertinently, she has not received money from the company so far.

"Saina was the brand ambassador of Deccan Chronicle newspaper until she signed a three-year deal with Rhiti Sports in July. DC also managed her endorsement deals," TOI reported.

"Saina had endorsed more than half-a-dozen products during her association with DC and the agreement was that the money would be routed to her account through her managers.

"While she has not received the full amount, the tax authorities served a notice for Rs 70 lakh on her projected annual earnings from her contract with DC," the TOI said.

According to reports, she paid the tax last month.

Saina also approached the Deccan Chronicle authorities after paying the tax but the company did not give her a reply, reports said.
